This memorial website was created to remember Marilyn T. Fraley who was born in Creston, Iowa on February 8, 1923 and passed away on December 18, 2008. She will live forever in our memories and hearts.

Marilyn T. Fraley, 85, of East Peoria, formerly of Peoria, passed away at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 18, 2008, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Marilyn was born in Creston, IA on February 8, 1923, the eldest daughter of Marion R. and Katherine (Pilkington) Thomas. She married Harold V. Fraley on June 14, 1956 in Peoria.

She is survived by her husband; daughter, Lynn (Barry Moore) Fraley of Boise, ID; and sister, Susan (Alan) Coleman of Leawood, KS.

Marilyn was raised in Iowa and was a graduate of Drake University in Des Moines, IA.

Marilyn was a homemaker who served as the activities director for the Peoria YWCA in the late ‘50’s and early ‘60’s. She formerly attended the Universalist Unitarian Church of Peoria.

An avid reader, Marilyn enjoyed a wide range of genres. British mysteries were a constant delight, but non-fiction about history, politics and social justice also resonated deeply with this thoughtful woman.

A memorial visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, December 21, 2008, at Clary Funeral Home in Peoria. Cremation rites have been accorded.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pennies for Peace, a program of Central Asia Institute (CAI), an organization that builds schools for young girls in remote mountain villages, P.O. Box 7209, Bozeman, MT 59771, www.penniesforpeace.org.

She was a lovely woman, and although I never met her, I respect her because of knowing Lynn, who is a dear friend. Lynn, my heart goes out to you and your family, and I hope that you can take consolation in knowing that she lived a full and meaningful life.

Much love,
Joanie

I met Mrs. Fraley a couple of years ago at her home. I recall her as a very gentle and sweet person. My love to you, Lynn, at this sad time.

Hi Lynn; Though I wasn't fortunate enough to have met your mom, I enjoyed seeing the photos of her that are posted here. You look so much like her! If she was anything like you in thought or deed, she must have been wonderful.
Miss you,
Amy

PS: The kitties are fine. Rambunctious, but fine. They miss you as well...

Hal and Lynn,

I don't know if you remember me or not, but I watched Lynn one(?) summer when I was in high school. I lived on Kaskaskia Ct. not far from you.   I was  saddened to see that she had passed away and have many fond memories of that summer.  My sympathy to both of you and your families at this time.
